The Last of Us was one of the most interesting games to be showcased during this year's E3. According to OnlySP, Naughty Dog has announced the release date for the game during the ongoing VGA. It is set to come out on May 7, 2013.
The company had released a teaser trailer earlier this week and will be releasing the story trailer on December 10. The story trailer is bound to have more information about the story. The only thing we currently know about the story is that it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a deadly plague has wiped out civilisation, mutating the survivors into zombie-like creatures. You play as one of two characters – Ellie, a spunky American teenager, or Joel, a hardened survivor – as they try and survive each day by scavenging ammunition and supplies. According to Naughty Dog, the game will blend survival-horror with action to create a "genre defining experience".
The company also released a playthrough of the demo it displayed during this year's PAX Prime. The video showed the stealth gameplay, some of the puzzles and a little bit of the combat segments, including what looks like a scripted event where an enemy takes a gun from your hand and captures you.
Naughty Dog has previously worked on and gained massive fame for the Uncharted series. One of the flagship games for Sony’s PlayStation 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, has been out for quite some time now. The game was one of the biggest hits of 2011 and bagged multiple Game of the Year awards. Now, Sony has re-released the game in a “Game of the Year” edition, which contains all the downloadable content (DLC) released for the game.
Sony made the announcement for the Game of the Year edition of Uncharted 3 on the PlayStation Europe blog. Developed exclusively for PlayStation 3 by Naughty Dog, the Game of the Year Edition combines Nathan Drake’s third critically-acclaimed adventure, with additional pieces of multiplayer DLC handpicked by the team for the release.
A quick recap for newcomers: Drake’s third adventure catapults the adventurer headlong into a dangerous search for the fabled relic, “Atlantis of the Sands”, with Drake travelling around the streets of London, a burning French chateau and the heart of the Arabian Desert. The game pits Drake and his mentor Victor Sullivan against an occult organisation and its ruthless leader, Katherine Marlowe. While this may not be the sort of thing that fans of the series might want, since they probably already have the game and have played it so many times, it might be a great way to convince gamers who haven’t yet bought the latest game in the Uncharted franchise.
