Twitter has started offering select users an ability to download all their tweets in one handy archive.

According to a report in The Next Web, Twitter user @Psilosophy was the first to publicly mention the option:
Wondering if you can download this? Hop over to the Settings page on the Twitter website and if you are one of the select users who have this option enabled, you'll see a "Your Twitter Archive" button at the bottom of the page.

NSpeaks blogs about what happens next:
On clicking this, twitter informs that they will mail you the download link when the archive is ready. Yes, its just like how Facebook's archive system works. Once you get the mail and download it you will get a zip file with archive in html form. Extracting it and you will see all your tweets sorted in calendar format.
A comment on The Next Web notes that archive also includes CSV and JSON files, the latter complete with each tweet's metadata.
Last month, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo had promised users will be able to download an archive of all their tweets by the end of this year. Though the feature has been rolled out to only a few as of now, it shouldn't be long before everyone gets access to all their tweets.
